MY PROJECT PLAN FOR FOLEY SOUND VIDEO

 Describe your project:

What do you hope to achieve? What is the purpose/function of the work? Is it for entertainment, promotion, information, education etc. ?

My goals for my project is to create foley sounds for The Incredibles scene and how it works is by finding the perfect foley sounds from websites that are free to download any sound that I need for the scene and make it even more realistic. This project is for entertainment purposes as I will change few things in  my project to make it entertaining.

How do you hope to source the materials required for the project, and where has your research into this led you to?

I hope that the sources of foley sounds that are available on foley websites have everything that I need for my project because I have searched the foley sounds that I needed and currently, I still haven't found them yet but I'm still hoping that one of these websites have the sounds that I really need. Also, I will try to create my own sounds from home if I can't find any of the sounds from the internet.

What constraints do you anticipate throughout the project, and how do you hope to overcome these?

I think the only constraints that I will have during of making this project are time and resources. I hope to overcome these by working on the project without slaking and not getting distracted during the making of the project and as for resources, I'm hoping to find a website that has all of the foley sounds the I need because I have looked to sites that have foley sounds but, they don't have the perfect sounds that I need for this project and if there isn't any, I will have to make it on my own.

Who is your target audience, and how do you hope to meet their needs through your sound design?

My target audience are the people who love the Incredibles. I will try to make my video as realistic as I can while finding the perfect Foley sounds for that one scene from the animated movie, as I don't want to put any wrong sounds that don't match the ones or similar to the movie.

1)

Please provide three examples of your research into other existing projects similar to your own, and your analysis of these examples? What was the purpose of your research? What are your observations? How will this help inform your own practice?

The first example is 2 Foley sound clips in one video but, I'll only give you my opinions on the animated scene of 'Ratatouille' where Remy is making improvements of the soup that Alfredo Linguini had made and gets caught by him. The Foley sounds that the students used for this one is are a small Lego brick, to mimick the sounds of Remy climbing to the kitchen and the sounds that they used when Remy is putting the ingredients into the soup are created by putting some objects into a metal bowl. I do like the work that these students put on into this video but, the problem that I have is that they only created Foley sounds for Remy making the soup and not all the sounds were recorded.

The second example is Batman fighting his opponent. The sounds that this student used for punching affect is presumably the dropping of a book, as this can be used to create punching sounds. When Batman swings his opponents to a metal fence, it creates a bell like sound and lastly, the main enemy in thi fight has blades attached to his gloves and every time he swings at Batman, it creates a similar sound when a sword is swung at. My overall analysis of this is some sounds from this video is accurate but the one sound that I'm not to happy about it is the punching sounds. The punches don't sound as violent as it should be so it kills the excitement and adrenaline. With these sounds, the fight is very dull.

My final example is a scene from WALL-E when EVE gets stuck on the magnet and she frees herself by shooting at it, including the abandoned ships in the area. The Foley sounds in this video are almost real, the sound of her trying to free herself from the magnet is on point but the down side from this video is the sound that they used for the blasts. They aren't as violent and makes the character look less serious then in the actual movie.
